Yesterday evening the first whitetail of the season was shot, a mature, full velvet 7 point. That's only the 3rd full velvet whitetail buck shot here in 22 seasons, so congratualtions on a awesome MT trophy!

The guys have been seeing deer and mostly small bucks. One hunter had 3 shooters come by with one being at 17 yards but the bigger buck behind him got nervous and they spooked, not offering a shot.

The guy on the mountain hunting mule deer over water had 3 bucks come in at 11-12 yards to drink and stuck around for about 1 hour. He passed on the bigger one hoping one of the 3-4 good shooters come by later this week. The one buck he said he would shoot on the last day. There's several really good mule deer bucks up there running around right now.

We got hammered with a storm this AM that had the road covered in 1/2" thick hail/ice that got really interesting hitting that spot at 60mph. We covered a lot of road swapping side to side and managed to pull that one off. The wind picked up to 30+ mph and tonights hunt will see the same wind so we'll see how it goes.
