The next to last week of rifle season was another good one! With 4 clients tagging out on 3 animals fairly early in the week. The mule deer hunter was done the first morning. The whitetail hunter shot a beautiful buck by mid week. And the 2 elk hunters almost where finished by Wednesday also. The one hunter had trouble finding a elk in the scope broadside on the side of a clearcut hillside at 480. The bull stood there for just over 1 minute but the hunter couldn't find him in the scopre. The other hunter had a bull come by his blind the very first morning but couldn't get a shot at the bull at 190 yards. One of the guys shot a good bull from the blind at 130 yards. The other hunter wanted to move and then we didn't see anymore bulls. The bull that was killed was shot from the blind the hunter wanted to move from. So the next day I moved him at his request and put the other elk hunter in that blind and he killed a nice 6x6 at 1:30PM in the afternoon. Staying in the same blind all week usually pays off.
We saw the Northern Lights last week. Also, we set a new tower blind on the mountain that should be a dynamite spot for elk and mule deer hunting. A few bulls have been shot in the area without the blind and 2 of the mule deer pictured walked by it last week.
