The season continues to be a challenge however the weather has started to feel more like Fall these past 2 days. We've been getting some rain and wind that isn't the greatest for deer movement here in Montana but at least the temperatures are cooler than the last 5 weeks. We started seeing some better deer movement and last night the biggest deer of the season was spotted, a buck we have not seen before. I have a feeling with the exceptional antler growing conidtions this Summer we are going to start seeing some really good deer once this natural food source starts to shrink and concentrate the deer.

We had a antelope hunter and it took 2 days to catch up to one in a position we could make a move on him. We utilized a antelope buck archery target to draw the bucks attention and keep it for a round of shots that eventually anchored him with a bullet between the eyes. The hunters first ever antelope and a hunt we'll both remember for a long time, congratulations!

One of our bowhunters shot a 10 point buck at 14-15 yards on a warm, windy afternoon with the winds swirling every direction. Fortunately the buck got close to his ladder stand and before he slipped past the hunter he made a perfect shot to take a great Montana Whitetail! Congratulations!

We'll have a break after this weekend with only 1 antelope hunter and then opening week of rifle elk and deer will start on the 21st. We're hoping the conditions will be better and the animals will hit the ground with more regularity once the guns start blazing. If this moisture continues 2-3 times a week as it did every week since I got here in August we're going to be in for a doozy of a November once the snow piles up. I'll post some more updates once rifle season starts when I get time.
